The sunflowers have bloomed and gone to seed and the zucchini and tomatoes have finally slowed down. The inaugural year of the Co-op Garden was nothing short of a success. With 115 pounds of fresh produce delivered to the St. Peter Area Food Shelf and 340 children participating in educational activities through their school classroom or Kids in the Garden, it was a fruitful summer. Not to mention the countless people who took a moment to walk through the garden – watching it grow and observing the monarchs and hummingbirds.
Another thank you to our garden adopters: Stan Schripeth, Craig Nelson, Oshawa Achievers 4-H, Nicollet Girl Scouts, and Bonnie Frisk’s Farm-to-Preschool training plot. And also thanks to the Statewide Health Improvement Program which provided funding for the Co-op Garden programming, resources, signage, and more.
