Love Your Planet—April 22 Is Earth Day

Earth Day happens this week (April 22) and the St. Peter Food Co-op has everything you need for an eco-friendly spring and summer. As your calendar fills up with backyard barbecues and park picnics, we encourage you to choose sustainable options for the health of our amazing planet! Here are just a few ideas:

Hive And Honey Farm (Local!)

We’re pleased to offer these locally-sewn Beeswax Bags, made in Henderson, Minnesota. 100% cotton fabric infused with beeswax and organic jojoba makes for the perfect reusable bag. Use them to store your fruits, vegetables, cheeses, herbs, a sandwich or loose snacks.

Bamboo Switch (Local!)

Based in St. Paul, Minnesota, Bamboo Switch is a family-owned zero waste brand on a mission to make sustainability simple and accessible to everyone. You can now purchase their Organic Cotton Muslin Bulk Bags and Organic Cotton Net Bag at the St. Peter Food Co-op. Bonus—5% of the company’s profits are donated to The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an organization working to protect marine wildlife.

Klean Kanteen

In addition to reusable water bottles in lots of bright colors, the Co-op carries straws and food containers from Klean Kanteen. The company’s reusable stainless steel straws are made with safe, flexible silicone tips and are dishwasher safe. Their plastic-free food boxes are leakproof, durable, and safe for the dishwasher as wellperfect for lunch boxes, bento boxes, and to-go containers for meals, soup, or any hot or cold food.

Stasher

Available in a variety of sizes and rainbow colors, Stasher is the first completely plastic-free, self-sealing reusable storage bag in the world. Made from food-grade silicone, Stasher bags are 100% non-toxic and safe to use in the dishwasher, microwave, freezer, oven and boiling water.

Baggu

We love Baggu and think you will, too! These reusable bags come in lovely patterns, and we have mini, regular, and large sizes so you can carry whatever you need in style. (Psthere’s a fun little Baggu link!)

To-Go Ware

Choose to reuse with these bamboo utensil sets for kids and adults. By providing people with sustainable solutions and healthful alternatives to plastic waste, To-Go Ware hopes to make the “throw-away” mentality a thing of the past. One set of a fork, spoon, knife, and set of chopsticks replaces 1,300 single-use utensils throughout its life. Now that’s a big impact.

See You Soon

We’re also excited to share that our bulk spice jars and glass containers are back in stock. Shoppers are also welcome to bring their own containers to fill in our bulk section. We hope to see you soon at the Co-op, or place your order online for Curbside Grocery Pickup.
